“Peace on earth, Good will towards All.” Each year the Christmas

Carols herald this two thousand year old message. Yet where is that Peace?

We still have war.

Yet Peace is more than the absence of war. It is more than the absence of fear. It is the presence of joy, love, and grateful celebration. It is our true identity.

It is forgiveness, the giving up of the belief that there is right and wrong behavior, people, things or occurrences. Rumi speaks of ineffable joy that envelopes us when we let go into the unconditional reality of Peace,

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

“When the soul lies down in that grass,

the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase each other

doesn’t make any sense.”

Is Peace a simultaneous reality that I choose not to enter?

A Field of Dreams I passed by?

I still perceive a world weary of war. I am weary of war. I am weary of the war inside of me. I am aware that the war I perceive in the world is caused at least in part by my own inner conflict.

I had hoped for different election results in November. I had hoped for more collaborative intentions from the office of the presidency, rather than the intention to ‘spend the capital’ of a marginal victory to enforce ‘the right’ idea of ‘freedom’ on the rest of the world.

I am aware and disappointed to see how my perception of President Bush is only too accurate an exact reflection of my own attitude in regard to him and his position. I am at times as adamant and arrogant as I perceive him to be, in my assessment that his position is ‘wrong.’

When I am able to observe this attitude inside myself I am aware not that it is ‘wrong’ but that it is painful. It is war-like.

It is anything but peaceful, joyful and loving.

Could this be the source of the war in the world? How can there be peace on Earth as long as I am making war inside myself with my fellow human brothers and sisters. Where is MY “good will towards all mankind. Where is my ‘good will’ towards myself in entertaining such discontent and discord inside my own energy field?

I remember during an earlier Bush presidency and another war in Iraq, I went to hear the Wiccan author and anti-war activist, StarHawk. She was speaking to a large audience in Northampton, MA.

During the question and answer period following her talk, someone asked the anger ridden question that I believe many of us hold with deep discontent, “What can we do about those” bleeps” that just don’t ‘get it.?’

Having read Starhawk’s books, I knew her as someone who had put her body on the line many times for her anti-war beliefs. She had gone to prison, taught workshops, lead rituals, and written books and articles with articulate passion about the patriarchy as the creator of modern warfare. Yet I was completely unprepared for her answer. It astounded me.

” How do we know we are right?” She said with deep sincerity.

As her question settled into our minds, first confusion – and then a palpable wave of – Peace slowly enveloped the hall.

The war inside stopped momentarily as she questioned its source. A door opened to our mutuality as human beings. Our arrogant thinking, that ‘we’ are right and ‘they’ are wrong, the real source of war, was exposed. The walls of separation between ‘them’ and ‘us’ were momentarily lifted and Peace flowed in. It was a riveting moment.

Moments like that are memorable. The effort to make them take root in the moment-to-moment experience of life is the challenge that continues to engage me.

I was very disappointed on November 3rd to wake up to the news that my political candidate had lost the national election. It was again time to ask the question, “How do I know I am right?” The truthful answer is simple. I don’t.

At times like these I can still find that other question, “What can I do about these ‘ bleeps’ that just don’t ‘get it’?” arising as a feeling inside of myself.

I have learned that the powerful answer is to turn that question around. Then I see clearly that I am the ‘bleep’ that ‘doesn’t get it’, because in that moment I am at war with the ‘bleep’ I am projecting outside of myself.

Peace is that simple and that difficult. The source of the war in the world is inside of every one of us who are still at war inside of ourselves with any one in any moment.

As Martin Luther King, Jr. put it, “We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, effects all indirectly.”

We are each very personally and directly responsible for war in the world as long as we are at war to any degree within our own being.

In Dr. David Hawkins ground-breaking work on consciousness, Power vs. Force, his research demonstrates that any thought that is oppositional is harmful not only to collective humanity but also to the physical body of the person having it.

In other words when I are feeling I am’ right’, angry, or judgmental to any degree- in that moment I am at war with my own body and the effect is immediate and harmful.

In Unveiled Mysteries, Godfrey Ray King refers to this as the One Law of Life and describes the Ascended Master Eriel speaking of it this way,

“Many times individuals allow resentment against injustice to flash forth with an intense feeling to rid the world of a certain individual. This is a subtle form of the thought of death, and to the one who sends it out, it must return.

” Many, many people bring about their own dissolution by this very subtle activity of the human self, for no one ever escapes this Immutable Law. There are many phases of Its reaction, and it is because humanity indulges in such thoughts and feelings that the race as a whole has been experiencing the dissolution of body after body.

” The number of mankind that pass out through physical violence is infinitesimal compared to the deaths brought about by these subtle activities of thought, feeling and the spoken word. The human race has been killing itself off for thousands of years in this subtle way because it will not learn The Law of Life and obey It.

“There is only One Law of Life, and that is Love. The Self-Conscious, thinking individual who will not or does not obey that Eternal, Beneficent Decree cannot and will not retain the physical body, because all that is not Love dissolves form; and it matters not whether it be thought, word, feeling or deed – intentional or unintentional – the Law acts regardless. Thoughts, feelings, words, and deeds are each but so much force acting, and eternally move in an orbit of their own.

“If man knew that he never ceases creating even for an instant, he would realize through the Presence of God within himself, he could purify his miscreations and thus be free from his own limitations.

“He spins a cocoon of human discord around himself and goes to sleep within it, forgetting at least for a time, that if he can build it, he can also break through. By using the Wings of his Soul – Adoration and Determination – he can break through his self-created darkness. Then he lives once more at the Center of his Being in the Light and Freedom of his God Self.”

Hawkins research gives us a map of this process. He refers to the major turning point, as a shift from pride to courage. It is when I let go of my need to think I am right, and courageously accept the “truth” that I don’t really know.

In ‘the work’ of Byron Katie, one of the four questions she suggests we use to inquire or our own painful thinking, is “Can I really know it’s true?” When ever I “do the work’ I always notice how the honest answer to that question brings a significant experiential shift. One easily recognized as a shift from arrogance towards acceptance.

According to Hawkins research this shift in our bio energy state is literally supportive of physical health. He refers to this as the most difficult threshold for us to cross in our evolution of consciousness. As each of us reaches this point consistently, we no longer evaluate either another or ourselves as right or wrong, our energy body expands and the frequency rate of its mircowattage vibrates at an amplified rate.

Therefore he says,

“Simple kindness to one’s self and all that lives, is the most powerful transformational force of all. It produces no backlash, has no downside, and never leads to loss or despair. It increases one’s own true power without exacting any toll. But to reach maximum power such kindness can permit no exceptions, nor can it be practiced with the expectation of some selfish reward. And its effect is as far reaching as it is subtle.”

The energy frequency that accompanies this change in thought and perception means that our impact on the collective has also expanded. Hawkins research shows how this amplification continues to increase as perception aligns further with what Master Eriel referred to as the One Law of Life – Love.

His research was done using kinesiological testing of hundreds of thousands individuals. Their responses to the research questions all confirmed the identical results.

This collective access to truth available in the energy field of the human body enabled him to put together an energetic map of consciousness with clear correspondences between our bio energy field, our perception and our emotional attitude.

He also was able to confirm the counterbalances between different energy states or their respective impact on the human collective.

As Brad Swift of Life on Purpose Institute says, ‘Life isn’t fair. Its rigged in our favor.’

The good news is that each one of us who literally becomes Peace has much more effect on the collective than each of us who remains in our own inner discord.

To literally herald Peace in the world will actually take very few of us. – As Hawkins indicates in his summary of counterbalances -(I have replaced the mathematical logarithmic values below with the names give to them by Hawkins research)

“Kinesiological testing has shown that:

“One individual at level (Enlightenment) counterbalances 70 million individuals below the level of (Courage).

“One individual at level (Peace) counterbalances 10 million individuals below the level of (Courage).

“One individual at level (Love) counterbalances 750,000 individuals below the level of (Courage).

“One individual at level (Reason) counterbalances 400,000 individuals below the level of (Courage)

“One individual at level (Willingness) counterbalances 90,000 individuals below the level of (Courage).

“Were it not for these counterbalances, mankind would self-destruct out of the sheer mass of its unopposed negativity.

“The difference in power between a loving thought (10 to the power of negative 35 million microwatts) and a fearful thought (10 to the power of negative 750 million microwatts) is so enormous as to be beyond the capacity of the human imagination to easily comprehend.”

“We can see from the analysis above, however, that even a few loving thoughts during the course of the day more than counterbalance all of our negative thoughts.”

This research shows that the power to stop war and empower Peace is in me, in each of us, as much, perhaps even more than in the Presidency. It brings to mind the very literal truth of the statement of Maryanne Williamson,

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

“It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. …

“We are born to make manifest the glory of Godhood that is within us.

“It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

“As we are liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others.”

And these passages from A Course in Miracles:

“Glory to God in the highest, and to you because He has so willed it. Ask and it shall be given you, because it has already been given. Ask for light and learn that you are light…

“To fulfill the Will of God perfectly is the only joy and peace that can be fully known, because it is the only function that can be fully experienced. When this is accomplished, then, there is no other experience….

“This is perfect creation by the perfectly created, in union with the perfect Creator. …

“When you meet anyone, remember it is a holy encounter. As you see him you will see yourself. As you treat him you will treat yourself. AS you think of him you will think of yourself. Never forget this, for in him you will find yourself or lose yourself.

Whenever two Sons of God meet, they are given another chance at salvation. Do not leave anyone without giving salvation to him and receiving it yourself.”

Clearly Peace on Earth, Good Will Towards All IS a simultaneous reality.  One I have been choosing to ignore.  Another choice -PEACE -seems most advisable – NOW.
