I have for you below some suggested readings.
Years ago, I became aware of various surveys that assess the level of happiness of various nations. Our country is usually rated in the lowest third. One survey I looked up recently covers about 150 countries, and the US is rated at 105. I don’t know the real reason for this, but I suspect part of it is that when we educate our children, we do not educate them on how to be happy. We educate them on how to make money, compete, read; write; and do mathematics.
So it’s not surprising that we don’t rate very high in happiness in this country.
Not very long ago, I had an extremely unhappy new client.
But as I was working with this new client who was very unhappy, I found myself recommending certain readings to her. She was very receptive, and as the months went by, she became happier and happier until she reported that she was very happy. She now says she has everything she ever wanted in life, in contrast to how she had felt when she first came to see me, even though nothing has changed in her life circumstances.
So recently, I asked her to give me a list of the books she had read or listened to because some of them she listened to were on audio. I realized that the books I’d recommended to her were training in life skills for happiness. So below is a list, a sort of annotated bibliography of that training in life skills for happiness. I don’t make any guarantees, but if you apply what is reflected in those readings, you can increase your quotient for happiness. At least, that’s my hope. And it is how I learned the skills that have resulted in my general contentment in life.
Certainly, Life and Love are beyond conceptual understanding, but the wisdom in these books has deepened my heart-felt understanding of both.
Starting with:
Power Vs. Force by David R. Hawkins
This book by Hawkins contains the map of consciousness that he discovered and reveals how our energy body is the source of our life experience. It shows how energy frequencies are at the core of the experience of life—a must-read.
Loving What Is by Byron Katie & Steven Mitchell
This is Katie’s book about ‘the work.’ She shows us how to inquire into our minds, clarify our thinking, and change our energy frequency.
Falling into Grace by Adyashanti
In this book, Adyashanti explains how our thinking causes our suffering and how to move beyond it. It covers the same understanding as Katie’s ‘the work’ but with more explanation.
The Most Important Thing by Adyashanti
The book is more of Ayashanti’s explanation of how we create our lives.
Anna, Grandmother of Jesus by Clair Heartsong
This book is a channeled work through Claire Heartsong from Anna, Jesus’s grandmother. Her life demonstrates much of what Hawkins, Katie, and Adysanti are reflecting.
The 30-Day Wake-Up Challenge by Adyashanti
This book is only available as an audiobook. It is a guide to meditation that focuses on being aware of our being.
Love Without End, Jesus Speaks by Glenda Green
This book is about a twentieth-century meeting with Jesus, free of dogma. Just friendly conversations as he sat to have his portrait painted by a nationally known portrait painter. Rich in loving energy and unexpected miracles.
I hope you find value and enjoyment in any of these books.
